Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially accepted a substantial offer from Crystal Palace, totaling £48 million, for the Norwegian forward Jorgen Strand Larsen. This decision comes after The Athletic reported on Sunday that a bid was imminent and highly likely to be accepted.
The bid, which includes a £43 million base fee and a £5 million add-on, was confirmed by The Athletic, who also noted that negotiations were facilitated by agent Jorge Mendes on behalf of Wolves. This move is expected to strengthen Palace's attacking lineup, especially with AC Milan's pursuit of Jean-Philippe Mateta still ongoing.
Strand Larsen, a 25-year-old international, was previously on Nottingham Forest's four-striker shortlist and also attracted interest from Leeds United. However, West Ham United showed interest in December before signing Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe, while Newcastle United had their bids of £50 million and £55 million rejected by Wolves during the summer transfer window.
Despite scoring six goals across all competitions this season, only one of which came in the Premier League, Strand Larsen's importance to Wolves was emphasized by the club's decision to sign him to a new five-year contract in September.
