Bold opening: Golf legend Nancy Lopez brings star power to the unveiling of a new Walmart in The Villages.
A brand-new Walmart Supercenter is set to open on Wednesday, March 4, at the intersection of Morse Boulevard and State Road 44. The grand opening ceremony will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by a full day of celebration featuring live entertainment, giveaways, and nonprofit grant presentations. The first 300 customers in line will receive a $25 Walmart gift card (one gift card per family, while supplies last).
Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson will announce an exciting new partnership with Walmart and will join Walmart executives and team members for the 7:30 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Nancy Lopez will share golf tips and insights from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The LPGA Hall of Famer, who has a long-standing relationship with The Villages, will also host a meet-and-greet with attendees.
Additional highlights include appearances by actor, comedian, and TV host Anthony Anderson, as well as world-renowned saxophonist Mike Phillips, famed for being the only musician to perform with the Michael Jackson, Prince, and Stevie Wonder collaborations known as the “Big 3.” Anderson is scheduled to appear at Walmart at 3:00 p.m., while Phillips will entertain from 5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The opening festivities will also feature a performance by the Leesburg High School band.
