A life well-lived, but a heart that endured too much pain. That's the story of Mary Grace Mitchell, a beloved figure who left us on a winter's day in 2025.
As the sun shone on the sparkling snow, Mary found her peace, finally free from the years of suffering she bravely bore. She was the daughter of Jeannette and Donald, and a sister to a large, loving family. Mary, or 'Moonie' as her special nieces Lindsay and Jay called her, was their 'Pumpkin Spice Latte' buddy, a role she cherished deeply. Kane Emlaw, her 'Haircutting' buddy, will also miss her greatly, as they shared a special bond over treats, McDonald's hamburgers, and big smiles. Mary's love extended beyond her family, to her many friends, and her passion for sports, especially the Ottawa Senators and curling, with a special mention for Rachel Homan's team. She was a true sports enthusiast, with a soft spot for Motown music.
The family expresses their gratitude to Dr. Booth, Dr. O'Brien, Dr. Rawn, and Kim Greenwood N.P., along with the compassionate staff at ARCH, for the care they provided. In keeping with Mary's wishes, she has been cremated.
If you wish to honor Mary's memory, the family suggests memorial donations to ARCH. You can do so by cheque or online.

And this is where it gets personal. Mary's passing has left a deep void, especially in the heart of her sister Leila. It's a reminder of the impact one person can have on so many lives.
So, as we reflect on Mary's life, let's celebrate her spirit and the joy she brought to those around her. But here's the part most people miss: it's not just about the happy memories. It's about the pain, the struggles, and the courage it takes to endure. Mary's story is a testament to the human spirit and the strength we all possess.
